Becoming a clean beauty doesn’t happen overnight.
It took me years to change my beauty routine and get rid of the numerous toxic products I was using on my body.
Many women tend to apply roughly 12-15 products on their body in a day. That means, they are slathering on over 100+ chemical ingredients every.single.day.
There are natural ways to achieve a gorgeous glow at ANY age, minus the chemicals. In fact, getting vibrant glowing skin is more than just what you put on it. It’s also what you put in it.
Here are 8 rules for gorgeous skin:
Rule #1 – Hydrate – I can’t stress this one enough! From flushing out toxins to healing dry skin, hydrating is essential for that gorgeous glow! Aim to drink half your body weight in ounces daily.
Rule #2 – Ditch the Sugar – Ugh! I know… this one is hard to kick but it’s essential for beautiful skin. Sugar in the body causes inflammation in the cells. Inflammation is the main contributor to wrinkles, blotchy red skin and acne according to research by the famed Dr. Perricone.
Rule #3 – Be Sun Smart – We need adequate sun exposure, but 6+ hours baking under a palm tree isn’t so sun savvy. Get in 15-20 minutes (based on your skin type) of exposure everyday (without sun protection), and then be sun savvy by covering up, wearing a hat, seeking shade or wearing an organic, non toxic sunscreen. It’s key to exposure your skin to the sun sans sunscreen in order to absorb vitamin D.
Rule #4 – Avoid Toxic Nasties – What I mean is smoking and alcohol. Your skin is a mirror for the kind of fuel and treatment you are offering to your body. This doesn’t mean to never have a drink. But moderation my friends… moderation.
Rule #5 – Get Your Beauty Sleep – From puffy skin and eyes, to more wrinkles and blotchy skin, lack of sleep can wreak havoc on your skin. Get in your 8 hours a night, which helps to repair and regenerate your skin and body. And to be sure your boosting your melatonin, your body’s sleepy hormone, dim the lights at night, put away your phone and computer at least 2 hours before bed and spend the evening decompressing and slowing down. This will allow your body to enter into a restful sleep and allow you to wake up looking beautiful!
Rule #6 – Stop caking on the Makeup – Many foundations accelerate the aging process because their formulations keep the skin from “breathing” properly, which is necessary for the overall health of the skin. Wearing less is best and if you do decided to cover up, choose a product with all natural and organic ingredients.
Rule #7 – Love your Skin – Yes, positive self talk and self-love is essential to gorgeous skin at ANY age. If you’re consumed by the covergirl image and the magazine models, these comparisons can make you feel down right bad about your body and self image. I’ve got two words for you – air brushed. Yes, every magazine and commercial is full of women that have been air brushed to perfection. There is NO such thing as poreless skin. In order to achieve the body you want, it’s important to start loving the one you already have.
Rule #8 – Heal Your Gut – Although it might sound strange, your gut and skin are connected. Skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea are typically signs that inflammation is happening elsewhere in the body. And the first place to start healing this inflammation is in the gut. Probiotics and digestive enzymes can do wonders for improving gut health and supporting digestion.
